Erin Remaklus has been telling stories for as long as she can remember. Like many writers of her generation, she got her start writing Harry Potter fanfiction when she was young, creating her own characters and adventures in a world she already loved. From there, she moved into roleplaying stories on online forums, where she spent years writing alongside others and learning how to develop characters, relationships, and entire worlds.

Eventually, Erin began creating stories that were entirely her own. Over the years, she’s written short stories, poetry, screenplays, and novels, but fantasy has always been the genre she comes back to. She has a particular love for mythology, complicated characters, found families, magic, and stories where the line between good and evil isn’t always as clear as it first seems.

Her love of storytelling and history eventually led her to Southern New Hampshire University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in English and History. She hopes to one day bring her passion for both subjects into a high school classroom while continuing to write novels in her free time.

Of course, “free time” is a little questionable in her house.

Erin is a single mom to two amazing kids who keep life busy, loud, and interesting. Their family also includes two dogs—a Blue Heeler and a Lab/Great Pyrenees mix—a rabbit, and a cat. Needless to say, there’s rarely a dull (or fur-free) moment in their home. She’s also incredibly close with her large family, whose support through school, parenting, writing, and all the other things she decides to take on has meant more to her than she could ever properly put into words.

Outside of writing and family, volunteering plays a huge role in Erin’s life. She’s active in Scouting, serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children, and is involved with Daughters of the Nile, where she will serve as Queen of Naphis Temple No. 66 in 2029. Through these experiences, she’s met people from all walks of life and gained a deeper appreciation for leadership, empathy, resilience, and the importance of community.

Erin also lives with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, which sometimes means changing plans, slowing down, or finding a different way to accomplish something. It hasn’t stopped her from pursuing the things she loves, though. If anything, it’s made her even more determined to keep going.

At the end of the day, Erin is still that same kid who loved disappearing into fictional worlds.

The only difference is that now, she gets to create some of her own.
